DIY: How to Repair / Clean Blackberry Bold 9000 Trackball / Pointing Device In 10 Minutes

DIY: How to Repair / Clean Blackberry Bold 9000 Trackball / Pointing Device In 10 Minutes Video Clips. Duration : 9.77 Mins.

If your Blackberry trackball isn't really spinning/scrolling in a certain direction, it's probably because a lot of dust has built up inside the trackball. Similar to the old mechanical mouse for computers, the Blackberry trackball needs to be cleaned once in awhile. This happened to me today so I thought I would share what I learnt while cleaning it. I hope this video will help someone out there who suddenly can't use their blackberry anymore. This video will show you how to clean the trackball. You will need a Torx T5 screwdriver. You can probably find it most electronic stores. If you are planning to replace the trackball with a new one, buy them on eBay (sorry, we don't sell them). This probably VOIDS YOUR WARRANTY. Several things worth mentioning: 1) Take your time, things are harder to put together than they are to take apart. So don't rush when taking apart the phone. Don't do it at all if you don't feel comfortable. 2) This will VOID YOUR WARRANTY (I think) 3) Doing this will NOT erase your data or settings on your Blackberry, but you should have a backup made before trying anything, just in case. 4) Don't be alarmed if after the repair, your Blackberry takes forever to turn on. It is because the battery has been removed the device is doing a hard reset. Mine probably took at least 5 minutes to start up. Once it does, you will only have to set the time again, everything else is the same. 5) I am not a cellphone repairman, and don't know much about any other model ...

That means your wife or girlfriends number, your moms number, your computer technician's amount and lastly, but by no means, least, your work contacts! Aaggghh.. That's a horrible feeling.

But, I am going to recite to you an highly straightforward way that will work, no matter where you are or which phone you possess or which supplier you are using. Whether you are in the Us or in Africa, Whether you are using Cingular or Orange, Nokia or Sony Ericsson. This recipe works on practically any decent Gprs phone.

Here's what we'll do. We will be using the sync aid offered by zyb.com. (Yes, its Free). Now, what exactly is a sync service. A sync or synchronization service, allows you to basically keep your data (contacts, calender etc.) on to an additional one server. This means that whenever you lose your contacts, you have to naturally sense the server with your new phone and all your contacts will magically appear in less than 60 seconds!

Sounds too good to be true. Read on.

Step 1: First, you have to register at zyb.com. Click "Sign Up". Fill in the needful details and go for your phone's brand and model number.

Step 2: You will now receive an sms from Zyb on your movable phone. Open it and you will find a code in it. Type this code into your next screen, Exactly as it appears on your phone. Now, go for your aid supplier from the drop down list. Accept the terms and conditions and click on "Store my contacts, calender and Sms" to continue the installation.

Step 3: In this step, Zyb will now send you settings customized for your phone and provider. On receiving the setting, select to save them. If your phone asks for a Pin-code, type 1234.

Step 4: Thats it. Your phone is now set up for syncing. naturally click "Continue to synchronisation". Depending on your phone Zyb will direct you to go to the sync function on your phone. This varies from phone to phone. But practically all phones put the sync feature in the organizer menu.

Step 5: Start the sync by clicking on Zyb in the sync function in your phone. You will get a message such as sending contacts. Once done, it will show "Sync complete".

Step 6: Rejoice. For all your contacts are now backed up on the Zyb gather server. It is wholly inexpressive and not viewable by whatever but you.

Tips:

1) You can now log on to Zyb.Com anytime to look at your contacts. You can also edit them here.

2) You should sync your contacts often to keep them up-to-date. Many phones allow you to program the sync automatically. You can set this to daily or weekly. I set my to weekly. This was my contacts are always up-to-date.

3) normal Gprs charges are applicable as per your project with your aid provider.
P.S. I recently backed up my phone's contacts. I have 229 contacts backed up and it took only 500 kb of data. On my plan (in India) it costs Rs. 5 (only 12 cents!) Now thats cheap.

In my next record Ill show you how to change these contacts to your new/alternate phone.

The author is in no way affiliated to Zyb.Com and does not gain whatever from your signup. This record has been written keeping your best interests in mind. :)
